“Despite the cultural bonds with the Jewish culture, Spanish companies have been ignoring the attractive opportunities of the kosher market and the estimated 600 million dollars in annual revenues. But this is something that is changing now not only for the recognized quality of the Spanish food products but for the innovation efforts being made by midsize companies”, explains Juan Millán, managing partner at Gedeth Network an internationalization business consultancy firm.

Castile and Leon has already a total of 14 food companies that have been distinguished with the kosher certification. 29% of these companies have achieved certification for kosher dairy and cheese products, another 22% for biscuits and chocolates, 14% for wines and the rest is divided between honey, vegetables, sugar, nuts and food additives.

Amongst these companies that are already exporting to Israel and benefiting from the kosher market opportunities we can find regional industry companies such as Gullón (biscuits), Europraline (Trapa chocolates), Elgorriaga (biscuits), Feyce (honey), Quesos El Pastor (cheese and dairies), Lácteas San Vicente (cheese and dairies) y Huercasa (beetroot).
